PFN_LIST_CORRUPT Error

Post by jtm55 »

Hi All,

I just put together this system from spare parts to give to a kid down the block who needs one. However, I keep getting a PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error. I was only able to find limited info on this error, but it seems that it's either Memory, Hard drive or heat related. System specs are as follows...

Coolermaster 101 SX4 Chassis
Western Digital 80GB IDE Hard Drives 2 ea in RAID0
Epox 9NDA3+
Opteron 150
nVidia GeForce 6800 GT
Sony DRU500
Mitsumi Floppy
4 Sticks of Corsair PC 2700 512MB ea
Silverstone 520 watt
Windows XP Pro
SoundBlaster Audigy 2
I've run mem test 86 with no errors & ran Western Digital's LifeGuard Diagnostic program & it reports hard drives are good. I removed the system from the Chassis to eliminate the possibility of a heat problem but I'm still getting this error.

All help provided is greatly appreciated. My thanks to all who respond.

When do you get the error?

Have you tried pulling 3 of the ram sticks out, and trying with just 1, then trying a different one?

Maximum PC says that this error is generally caused by defective RAM or a blown RAM slot on the mobo. Run memtest86 on one stick at a time.

Hi All,

I tested the Memory with MemTest86 & it appears that the Memory fails when placed in the B Memory slot. Rather than go through the whole RMA process I wanted to know if any of you have any Info/experience with this board

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813157081

It has both AGP & PCI Express so that in the future a upgrade can be made without purchasing a new Motherboard. Tell me what you Guys think.

My Thanks to all who respond.
