HELP My cd and dvd drives that disappeared

I started my system and my drives have disappeared from the my computer and the device manager. HELP

Are they detected in the bios?

I tried to down load the JMicro driver that I think is the problem but it won't open. Its a .rtr file !@#!$%%

Are you saying the OS HDD won't boot? Then how can device manager even load? If you can get into the OS, you should be able to update/reinstall drivers via device manager manually or using a simple .exe setup file.

Download the chipset drivers again and make sure your not using a download manager as that can cause corrupt downloads.

download the latest chipset drivers.. Usually the ones on the CD are old versions anyway.

No the OS boots fine. Its just that only the hard drives show up and not the DVDs
