Question about new comp i built..

Post by Ebbing »

I just built a new computer specs are

AMD Fx 62
ZALMAN CNPS 9500 AM2
XFX 8800 GTX
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro
ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe

CPU is running 46c non load and around 52-55c at full load
System is at 42c.

My cpu when i watch the ai booster program it will jump from 2.8 to 3.3 then down to like 2.3 then back up to 2.8. Ive never really noticed this with other comps ive built and was just wondering if this was normal and if my temps were fairly safe?

Your temps are safe.

AMD clock down when NOT under load, to consume less power.
Now watch if it throttles when underfull load.
It shouldn't.

Try disabling Cool N quiet in your BIOS if it really bothers you.

Well just like I said it turns down your CPU when it is not in use to save some energy.
Why would you run a CPU at its full power when it does not need it right...
If you never touched it then it is probably on.
Most MOBO has it ON as default.

Anyways the throttling is usualy normal if you go from load to no load but if you put your CPU under full load and it keep throttling then there is a problem.

What PSU do you have.
Its farfetched but ... let me know.

I was just watching the ai booster program while playing vanguard and it would go from 2.8 (normal) to 3.2 then
back down to 2.8 for a few minutes and then i looked at it again and would shoot down to 2.3 for a split second.

I checked my bios also and its def disabled, should i enable it?

I am using Thermaltake Toughpower 850W

One tip I can give you, NEVER use AI booster, go with the tried and true manual way. (thouhg the results are slightly different) I tried AI booster on my core 2 at 2.1 ghz, and it could only get it to 2.7 ghz. Manually I was able to get it to 3.5 ghz.
