Bought one yesterday brand new, my computer found it but the Zunesoftware wouldn't. I was forced to restore the zune, and reinstall software, which took about 3 hours to reinstall because it has serious issues. Finally got it to install, and still wouldn't recognize the Zune, its been stuck in restore mode for over 10 hours, Microsoft supports lack of english caused me to be on the phone for 2 hours. While on the phone they told me to perform every possible action they could find on the microsoft.support site, which coincidentally I had already performed. So I am left with a broken Zune TY microsoft, please don't buy one of these.
And not its not a fluke, if you go to http://www.zuneboards.com you will find tons of people with the same issues. Software is poorly written.

I have a 30gb ipod video that had an issue with freezing. I had just installed a firmware update and it froze during install. Just as on the ipod, there should be a hard reboot, (assigned keys for you to hold down till it powers down). That'll at least get you out of "restore" mode.
Is there a newer version of the Zune software (installed on computer) available form Micro$oft's site? I know there's frequently a newer version of itunes and that's cleared the odd hiccup for me. hope you get it going!

thats too bad that you got a bum zune...my friend always says "I was listening to my zune..." and then follows that up with a brief interruption to say "ZUUUNE!" and puts on hand up in the air like it's some sort of great relic.
