Try re-seating it, or stick it in anther machine just to make sure. I had a card work lose one time from being hauled around to LANs.

Do you hear the system boot into windows? Are you using the video card in your sig or a new one?

Which would Be???

and yes, my sig, and also an XFX board, and i dont know if the proc is working becuse ive never heard it before

and last night i went over a friends house and tried 1. slower RAM, PC2100 instead of 3200, no dice, 2. an AGP card that definately works(the ram and card were working when i got to his house, he was still using AIM when i arrived)

I'm not sure what you're saying in the above post, did you get the card to work?

Anyway, the fan may well spin even although something isn't working. It's pretty much like a CPU and a heatsink and fan, the CPU might not be working but the fan still works. The video card is just like that, the PCB is the motherboard, the GPU is the, er, CPU and of course the heatsink fan is the, em, heatsink and fan. The fan will still work even if the CPU is borked.

It could be dodgy RAM, dodgy GPU, dodgy capacitors, or even something as simple as a loose connection on a resistor or............... something.
