please make a general hardware section

Post by hercules71185 »

Because if you don't know the problem then its hard to find a catagory.
On my best friend google. I searched for my problem as usual. And if it doesn't work I turn to my trusted site that seems to work out 99% of my problems called legitreviews.com and here I am.
Ok oddly.
In games I don't get these mysterious dots on my screen. Or using hd movies. but, when I play a video that is youtube quality or from youtube itself. I get pixels that are white on the darks. I've never seen this. It can't be artifacting because ati tool detects nothing and its fine playing games. then I was told its your memory since you probably know by now I have a good brand of 2 x 1gb and a cheap 2 x 512. I do stuff on photoshop that seems to take up more than my alloted 2gb(between that and watching a movie and playing around online at the same time.) And the memory seems fine doing that. But, for this I did take out my memory the good and the bad I was using 1gb for a while with the cheaper patriot brand. and got the pixels after a few hours again. (wow does having 1gb suck) So I was glad it happened on that. Then I switched to my 2gb and it was fine again for a few hours then did it again. So I know its not the memory either. but, when I restart it goes away for a long time.
It went away when I lowered my cpu overclock and voltage tho.. Does this mean its my cpu? I only lowered it enough to run at stock voltage tho. 2.65 vs 2.75ghz

Please post your system specs, that will help people provide a competent answer. It does seem like an odd problem. Off-hand, I don't have an explanation.

BTW, under the current configuration, this should probably be in the general computing section since it's not NVIDIA or ATI specific. I think there is a category redesign under review. Moving topic.

Its not just my browser since for one it happens in firefox, and safari. Along with under photoshop and microsoft picture viewer. Not saying it doesn't but, haven't seen it under picasa or the hp viewer yet.
System specs
2x1gb team elite ddr2 800
2x512 patriot ddr2 800
amd 3600 x2 overclocked from 1.9 - 2.65 now usually 2.75
8600gt by leadtek.
biostar nf520 motherboard.
umm anything else you'd like?

PS the reason its under this catagory is I didn't know if it was because of my video card. Being Nvidia I decided to put it here. If its not video card related then move where you'd like. Its just where I figured a good start would be
