Motherboard Suggestions

Post by aholenstein »

I need a motherboard that allows me to install 2 8800GTX Video Cards, 1 Wireless card, a TV Tuner and a Sound Card.
Or in other words, i need to be able to install 2 8800GTX Video Cards and still have 3 PCI slots available to be used. (not to be blocked by the Video Cards)
Any Suggestions? Also, what would be an appropriate Tower and Power Supply, Processor etc.
I and going to buy a new system on boxing day. I already have the Video Card.
Thanks,

Cases: Antec P190 or the Cooler Master Stacker 830 Series. IMO with SLI w/ FAN cooling you'll need plenty of space. The P190 supports two power supply units.

Power Supply: Brands OCZ or PC Power & Cooling(Same company?)

And with the motherboard, you'll have no luck with that. To find a motherboard that has quality expansion slot support for other types of cards besides PCI-E will not be around anytime soon, or ever. It's the same type of annoying thing like Onboard sound. You'll find a board that will be able to fit cards in between or below or above, but the air circulation is gonna totally suck (Which is probably why you're asking the question anyway). So to deal with this properly, you'll need to convert to water cooling. Sorry that I don't know what board to get. Go to Asus.com or newegg and start browsing for some boards!

What size monitor are you using? If it's not 24" or bigger, you are gonna waste a lot of money on SLI.

Are you looking for Intel or AMD?

What is the LCD's native resolution (i.e the amount of physical pixels it has). If you don't know, is it just a 720p HD LCD?
