Shut off computer but wont restart

Well this is a wierd one. Whenever I power down my main system, I have to unplug the power cord for a while then plug it back in, in order for the computer to power back up. If I try and power up right away it just sits there with a black screen and never loads. Any ideas why this would happen? Restarting has no effect, only when I totally shut it down.

That is weird, might be the board, have you tried a new/different PSU yet to rule it out?

Is it an Asus board, I've seen it on a couple of those when Crash Free Bios fritzed out?

Gigabyte 965P-DS3 board.

I tried a different power supply with no difference.

It is goofy!

Oh and this happens EVERY time I shut down the computer. I have to unplug the power cord for a while from the omputer then plug it back in to start up - I would say it has to be out at least 10 minutes before it will restart.

maybe it is the MB...have trouble with the network connector on it, so maybe it is ready to blow up.

Does sound like its probably a motherboard issue. Rather strange though...

I had a similar issue with a system before but it turned out to be the powersupply, have you verified the voltages just to be sure?

could a failing cmos battery cause that?
