well I think I found that option in bios... dunno but it appears to have worked, i got up to 505fsb, but then I got greedy and thought, "hey maybe this option will let me go even further" and i tried 510 and got detdram lol, okay whew, after hours of trying to fix it i think I finally got it, it was running over 3.5GHz but the voltages needed to run it stable were insane so i toned it down to 490fsb and lowered the voltages quite a bit and everything seems stable, running some tests now to be sure

Just for the sake of testing have you tried lowering your overclock on the memory and lowering the voltage???

okay... new problem ive never seen before with this comp, long story short i was getting the odd BSOD so I lowered oc and got detdram, so i tried the usual stuff for getting it to work and it did( well i only realized it finally worked with 2 sticks after i pulled the plug and saw the lsd monitor..., it would start up again but no such luck this time, and then after a few more restarts i noticed that it would not shut down if i held the mobos red pwr button, it would only work when starting it up, then a few start up later it simply refused to turn on( the standby lights if you would call it that were on, but it wouldn't actually power on), and the pwr button on my case was broken by foolish family members so I've had to rely on the mobo button, and no the button appears to be in perfect physical condition still..any ideas as to what would be causing this?wouldnt think its the PSU because the standby lights are still on, and i havent touched any of the power connections, it just randomly seemed to do this.should i just give up and RMA the board?

Maybe try pulling the motherboard out and putting it a cardboard box, then hook everything up outside of the case to see if the mobo is shorting out? Best to start from square one at this point. Start off by putting just the bare minimum on it...one hard drive, one stick of ram, vid card, etc. Then if it starts to work start putting things back on. If it still works after that put it back in the case.

I'd be ready to RMA the board about now. Even if you get it up again this time, there is no knowing when it will next decide to not boot up.

well if it's a shorting issue, then it's not a mobo problem but something else.

I give a board about two days of off and on attempts to straighten it out, then RMA. Living with or working around an issue isn't worth it. The factory will tell you if it's not the board, and you can move on to other issues, if any my guess would be over volting ram, a known issue with Asus.

They don't overvolt that much & memtest would have eliminated that

I'll just chime in here.............

ASUS are one of the only mobo makers who keep updating their BIOS.
There is currently an issue with ASUS boards when using very high speed ram, either DDR2 or 3.

If you clock the ram (ddr2) to <1GHz, you need to set the Trfc timing to greater than 52. The highest option you can select for this timing is only 42.
If you set Trfc to AUTO then the board will increase this to <52 for you and you can clock higher.

With DDR3, it's the same but Trfc should be <130 for very high clocks.

ASUS boards do overvolt the memory by ~0.06v ---> this shouldn't be an issue unless you're using ~2.3v or more.
This voltage issue is well known, and IMO it's one of those things you must know before attampting to OC with an ASUS board.
If you're RAM dies from this issue, IMO it's your fault.
Before you start to OC anything, it's imperative you do the required research on your hardware first.
Not knowing your hardware before OC'in is only asking for problems.

IMO ASUS makes the best motherboards period..........

getting it to work has become so complicated lol, this is the only way itll work it seems(after days of trying)

2sticks of ram stick #1 and stick #2 (it never fails with 1stick problems just start when there are 2)

if stick #1 is the in the first white slot when it fails, then i have to do the battery reset, then remove stick #2 and put stick #1 in the second white slot, then i have to leave it for at least 15min if it doesn't work the first start up(never works if i just keep on restarting over and over again), so after its been sitting there for 15min i start it up(shows det dram as usual) then i have to hold the reset switch which somehow forces it to work, then i have to log into windows and let it sit for a while then shutdown, then i have to go into bios and change any setting so that it will restart, but just before it starts up again i have to cut the power and put in the 2nd stick in the first white slot then i start it up again and the fans/lights start up but die down again in about 3sec and then start up again(always happens), about 70% of the time it will accept the 2nd ram... and about 40% of the time it will oc fine, but i have to do this over and over again until it works.. but if i have both ram sticks in and i change one setting and it boots that means it is 100% stable... until the next %$#!% up lol

right now its @ 3.3GHz w 1100MHz on the ram i think w 2.25v/ 1.41vcore kinda scared to push it more but i actually managed to hit 3.6GHz once but have never been able to do so again (not bad for e6300 on air right?)

most annoying thing is when it accepts the 2gb and then i try to oc and it gives me detdram and i have to start from scratch
