I feel your pain bubba, lol. I'm rocking the on-board video too, though I bet you have more shared mem than I do, lol (8MB here, not even close to being enough for me) :P

this is the board I have now

http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_sp ... V&class=mb

running 256 of kingston 2700, and a 3.6 p4 560j

says its using 64mb for the vid, still sucks. the ol' letter to saint nick has a vid card on the list :)

oh, I know its agp, at the time I bought it I was planning on using my 5700ultra a little longer, then it died. oh well, so much for the low cost upgrade.

Personally, I would still go for PCI-E, especially if you do any sort of gaming, because of bunch of hi-performance cards (ie. 6800GT/Ultra, 7800GTX, etc) are heading that way if I'm correct. DFI would be a better fit in that case, but tends to like hi-performance memory too. Gaming rigs can get expensive, but if you're not really doing anything like that then the MSI board should be plenty, just beef up the video card :).

Of course gaming rigs are expensive, if you want a good one, that is. ROFL. "Cheap" gaming rigs = cheap games. Running HL2 at 640x480 at minimum settings just isn't the same, is it?

Not the same at all by any means Sovereign! It's gotta have AA enabled and all details on Max, running at high-res. HL2 just looks cheezy on low-res and low-detail to me.

Doom 3 is the only game I know of that looks halfway decent at low settings, only because id Software tried to make it not suck on low end machines.

Probably programmed the game with a scalable graphics engine; they know they need the money to stay in business, and they're willing to gear it towards both the low-end and high-end system users. Not a bad thing if I say so myself, though the ulterior motives may make them look a little desperate, but what do I know, lol.
