I'll ask the boss.... ;)
If you want you can gather some links etc....even if it doesn't make a stickey...an all-round guide would be usefull....but the risks need to be made clear....
I haven't the time to do any guide @ the moment....

I would have to second that one myself......and include links to articles on how to unlock pipes, flash a video card BIOS, etc

It would be a good way to get more of the members involved, in that they could contribute what info they have to the sticky, and can benefits newbs at this, or people who just need up-to-date info

well I didn't say write a guide. just open a section or make a sticky for us and we will do the rest once there is the place (only you can make a sticky or open up a new section as a moderator)
BTW, if you were made a moderator why don't you change the sig. under your name from legit extremist to moderator :? so that members know that yo da man :finga:

the first link could be the one here on how to flash the x850pro to x850XTPE

http://www.overclock.net/faqs/44936-how ... xt-pe.html

http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/ove ... idcard/100

I have a 6800 (all versions) tweak guide: http://3dgpu.com/archives/2004/08/09/ge ... eak-guide/

also cooling guides could be included (when flashing or OC/modding to a higher model there comes a heat issue):
http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.asp ... 246&pgno=0
and my version: http://forums.legitreviews.com/viewtopic.php?t=3263

for starters. if you open up a section - will try to dig up more :P

edit1: how to open pipes with riva tuner: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview ... erthread=y

edit2: how to flash a NVIDIA card: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm? ... 633&page=3

Keep gathering links etc......Apop is @ CES...... (I can't open any new sections, plus he will read this thread anyway...)

I also can't change my title, so for now it's "legit extremist"
The title means nothing, since I have yet to really use "my powers" ;)

(instead of this thread being hijacked too much, just edit the last post and add more links...even a guide could do, all you need to do is PM the person who writes it to edit it......I'll try write something, using the links but it won't be until Feb)

Topher wrote:Ok, that settles it. I'm getting the X850 Pro and flashing and OC'ing that sucker to an x850XT.

I'll be back to bug you guys for help with the OC procedure.

Thanks a million for everyones input!
I don't think the X850pro will mod to a full x850XT!!!

It's the X800GTO2 that can be modded.....

The X800pro was able to mod to an X800XTPE but you can't get them cads anymore........
:edit:

I can be done!
X850pro has 12pipes just like the X800pro

just make sure you get the VIVO version because only x800pro VIVO or x850pro VIVO can be modded !!!

That must be a type-o. The Pro is 12 but both the XT and XTPE have 16.

Oh, I plan on it. I'm buying a true blue ATI card, not a third party. Thanks again! Here's where I plan on buying it from:

http://www.isquaredinc.com/ATIRX850Pinfo.html

It's going to cost me right around $260 with shipping.

that is a good deal. just make sure you keep us informed how the flashing/modding went and give us some benchmark results from before and after. make sure you follow the guides precisely and all should be OK :finga:
that should become a kick-ass card :P

in full Cartman tone and I quote: "kiiiiiiiick assssss", lol

btw, did a little research on Isquared for you on resellerratings.com, good site you're buying from. The rating isn't as high as Newegg's, but I think you'll be just fine as it still has a high customer rating....hope the card works out well for you dude :)

yeah, they might on Pricewatch, but what you really want to know is what customers specifically think about a certain vendor, not just an overall rating....I always look at every aspect of a vendor before I buy from them, because I didn't once with BZBOYZ and got burned, big time!! They gave me crap memory with a mobo/cpu/memory combo that wasn't even compatible with the combo anyways......I tried to RMA the whole combo after finding this out, only for them to tell me they were going to charge me a restocking fee to do so because it wasn't a defect, just an incompatibility issue, which they said the memory they were including with the unit would be compatible......I also had to pay for good packaging (which reputable vendors supply anyway), and they also wanted me to pay for memory that was "certified" to run on the combo, which was a good deal more (like $50 more for Value memory, what a ripoff).......they are just like Best Buy, they suck balls, and it took like 3 days longer for the components to get to my house than it would have with Newegg.....I ended up taking a hit to my wallet because the customer needed the system quick, and I went to Newegg to grab some Corsair ValueSelect RAM.

So, you need to get to low-down on any vendor you shop with before you buy anything from them, and this site does just that, all you gotta do is type in the store name:

Linky

Just trying to prevent another forum member from getting burned :)
