I'm going to let it sit for a day or so and see what happens. I'm beginning to suspect it's actually the mounting bracket.



Notice how it's kind of cocked 10 deg to the clockwise? That's because of how eVGA put the mounting holes for the 775 coolers. I'm wondering if since the coolers not squared to the proc it's not making good contact. If that's the case I'll have to get a different block as I don't believe there's an i5/i7 adapter bracket for the Apogee GTZ.

Or it could be this Frostbite thermal compound sucks.

Try the HSF that came with the processor to get an idea of what's going on. It could be a wonky sensor or the software apps aren't reporting the correct temp.

I am sure there is a swiftech backplate for LGA i5, i7 for the GTZ. I think I've read about it somewhere...
