Monitor screen refresh rate question

Post by barfly »

I have a 22" SGI c220 diamondtron CRT monitor and i have a question about refresh rates. It says in the monitor specs that it is capable of high refresh rates up 110 Hz i think, but i can't seem to get it past 85 Hz, thats as high as windows XP would let me set it, any ideas on how to get it past 85?

If you lower the resolution you can increase the refresh rate. 85Hz is fine though!

Yea i already got the resolution lowered to 1024x768, thats the one i use to surf the web and to read text, but i still cant get past 85 Hz. The monitor specs promise 85 Hz for 1600x1200, i usually game at that resolution but for 1024x768 i want a higher refresh rate cause i was told that higher refresh rate is better for ones eyes, they do start to hurt after i spend a long time looking at the screen, thats why i'm asking about this.
