How do I change case fan speeds. Do I do it in bios or in windows? I am running xp pro with intel badaxe 2 motherboard. My core temps are very high. With smp client running my temps are over 170F. My cpu fan is a zalman 9500 with fan speed on high. My case is a silverstone tj09. I believe the problem is with my room temp.. I turned on the air and the temps drop to 165F. Room temp. was at 83F. Now it is at 80F with cool air blowing on my comp.
I would have thought that the fans would have been on full blast by default. The fan options should be in the BIOS (If you have the fans plugged into mobo headers and the board supports changing their speed), or if you have a windows overclocking program from intel, have a look in there.
I went into my bios pressing f2. The only option is fans on low or off. A friend of mine said to try f4 or f6. I don't remember. My case fans are spinning at 1200rpm. They should be able to spin faster, don't you think.
Sounds like low means 8v. Strange how they won't let you run them at full speed. I would suggest updating BIOS, but if your badaxe2 is working fine now, you might not want to open that possible pandora's box ^_^
Depending on the fans and the case, they may very well be turning at full speed. Outside of my radiator fans, all the others are 1200 rpm fans by default (12v). You may have to get other fans if you need/want more power.
I have the most recent bios update. Maybe I just need a better cooler.
Maybe something watercooled. I still think that there is a way to make the fans spin faster.
So if you want/need more airflow in your chassis, you're going to either have to replace the fans that you already have or add more. Either way, you're going to end up with more fan noise.
Right, I was thinking of putting in a new cpu cooler. Maybe something by coolit. Just not sure if they got the bugs out.
Maybe something like you have.
adjustable speed fans are the way to go.
However the smaller the fan, the noisier they get. Go with 120mm if you can, 80mm at 4800RPM sounds like the APU on a C-130.
