Changed From CenturyTel DSL to Charter Cable

Post by Apoptosis »

I just made the move today from CenturyTel DSL to Charter Cable and so far I'm really happy...

For the past 1.5 years I've had CenturyTel DSL with the 1.5M/256K package... I was paying $39.95 for the connection and a $1.25 charge called Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee - my total bill was $41.20

Here is what my connection was on speed tests:

Image

6.8MB down and 250KB up.... Not bad for a 1.5MB connection, but i was lucky to get 1.1MB downloads...

I just signed up for the Charter Communications 3M/256k package that is $14.99 a month and am getting this...

Image

4.8MB down and 480k up for $15 a month and I swear I can't notice the difference in downloading so far.

All said and done I'm happy with the connection and lowering my monthly bill from $41.20 to $14.99 --- That's $26 a month that can go for something else or into saving now!

I wish there was even a option for a broadband provider out here where I live, you either have to get satellite or dialup. And satellite regardless or provider is crap and expensive............

Wish I could get Charter for $14.99 / month. We pay $44.95 even with bundled discount for Time Warner Road Runner. Granted it's faster than DSL, but pricey.

His $14.99 is only for 3 or 6 months, so don't worry... He'll be paying the same price, if not more, than you do soon enough! :P

I pay $42/mo for 3mbps/256kbps from Charter... and that doesn't include modem rental as we own our own.

i'm currently paying 35 a month for att dsl rated at 6mpbs/768kbps.

Pretty good speeds, download through torrents at around 600+kbps on a good seed.

Only other option is charter, 3mb package is something like 45 bucks.
