PDA Recommendation?

Post by Sovereign »

I know absolutely squat about PDAs. Help! Budget is less than $400. Google does not help me very much either... Biggest concern is Vista compatibility and working with Microsoft Office 2007 documents on-the-fly.

I think the latest mobile OS incarnation is Win Mobile 5.

Try and find one with bluetooth and wifi built in if you can.
64MiB memory is the min you should go for, 128MiB will work much better.

Dell do the AXIM x51v which is kickass, can't seem to find an american link for it though :-k
But if you can find something like the x51v in terms of specs then it will be a decent palmtop.

I once owned a Dell AXIM X50v and love it when i had it. I only got rid of it because i needed more from a portable device...i.e. a laptop. I dont know how much the Axims cost anymore, but i would look into those.. The X50v has got the outdated by now, but i am sure it will be more than enough to raise some hell!! 600 something MHZ processor, plenty o ram, wifi, bluetooth, the works!!

I also have a Dell Axim X50v and it is pretty sweet. Gets a pretty good wireless signal as well.

I've seen a number of very feature packed PDAs from HP. You may also wanna consider which PDAs your wireless carrier officially supports so you can reliably get email and web access.

Are you looking for more of a traditional PDA or something more like a smartphone? It seems like most companies are no longer making regular PDAs and are making more smartphones.

I was trying to avoid the whole "phone" part as I already have a cell phone and am not ready or willing to merge those two devices together yet.
