DVD burning issue

After paying a ridiculous amount on a pack of 10 dvd's when for the same price at a computer store i could of gotten 50, the burning will not work. I have wasted 3 dvd's trying to get it to work trying to burn twice in Nero, and once in PowerIso and neither of them are working.

Nero came up with an error which was unable to get a connection to the drive or somthing so nero has been permanently been removed from my computer. This dvd drive does work i bought it not over a month ago. The drive does work also because i installed nero off the cd from this drive.

Any ideas??

Try a different brand of blank dvds.

I have used Verbatim recently since i have never had a bad burn with them. I also used ridata and had good luck.

Connection to the drive error is not the disc! Try deleting your drive from device manager and then rebooting to let windows reinstall it. Reinstall Nero (best out there in my opinion) and try again.

Mike

Unless you try with other brands you wont know if it is the burner or not.

Well they were the only dvd's they had at the shop which are DVD-R and i have tried to burn an ISO and just some plain old files and neither seem to work, i should be able to swap them with a mate sometime today and see if different types work.

THanks

What drive do you have? Some blanks may not be supported by your drive. You may try to update the firmware on the drive. If theres an update it probably includes better compatibility with blank DVD's.
Also check your write speed, if its MAX try slowing it down a little!

yeh he's right it might be compatablility issues, but i dont recon its the burn speed, tho it wud only make the quality ever so slightly noticble wen put side to side,
but yeh look around ask yr m8 and if i think of nething i will post it.

After you try a different brand of blanks and update the firmware, if it still doesn't work I think you might just have a defective drive. I know you don't think that's it, because the drive is relatively new and you installed Nero with it, but the problem seems to be in the burning, not the reading, so... it's a possibility.

What brand and model is your drive, btw?

I've had great success with Benq dvd-r media. I can't remember ever having a bad burn with them. They have a Sony media code.

Depending upon what you are burning (you didn't mention what it was), there could be various issues...

Something I was taught a long time ago was to install the ASPI drivers regardless of what you are doing. You can get them here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_s ... s/aspi.cfm

You'll have to follow the instructions in the archieve.

I have been having problems with Nero 7. You might consider a different burning program. What errors have you been getting?

Well it burns now after buying a 25 pack imation of DVD-r's. I tried to return the others i bought and was told i cant return them because i did not have all of the disc's.

after reading some of the things at this site http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_s ... s/aspi.cfm i decided not to get it jsut to be safe.

My burner still wont allow the standard windows burning tool to DVD's and i can burn an ISO image..

Did you ever try to update the firmware? Next time go with a Lite-On. You can find nice "hacked" firmware's on afterdawn's site.

Get the latest firmware here.
