i'm so stoked! the "experience" is starting! i'm going to pick up my paycheck early today, deposit it at lunch, and then order my parts at home during my lunch break!

i sorta can't wait. but its okay. as soon as i get the parts, there will be pics posted here, as well as the before/during/finished of the construction process!
and of course, benchies after i get in there and tweak that E6750
i'm sure you guys know that feeling i have... now if only i could just afford next day delivery...

kick ass... you'll love it! The E6750 is a monster and I'm sure you'll be able to hit 450MHz FSB x 8x milti for some 3.6GHz love.

i can't wait! i was in my band practice last night and the other guitarist was like "are you okay" and my brother (drums) laughed and was like "yeah he's being a nerd"

yep i'm the nerd.
i'll be re-re-reading that guide on overclocking in the next day or two, because UPS says the parts won't get here until Friday.
guess that eats my weekend up lol

Isn't that what weekends are for.............

Nothing more fun than putting together a new system, well, almost nothing, I can think of one or two things that are more fun than putting a new system together..........

LoL, agree. It's an awesome feeling, especially when it's your first time.

i don't know whether to laugh or be mildly offended lol
thanks though, i've been checking on the UPS status of the parts, and its just flying across the states... i wonder if it might get here today rather than tomorrow
oh and i picked up Test Drive Unlimited at gamestop yesterday so i'd have something to play with once i get this thing built

Be prepared for problems when you assemble it. Generally I tended to forget to do something when I first built a rig! It is advisable to reset your CMOS before you start, and check the BIOS settings are correct when you have assembled and booted

yeah, i plan on reading all the manuals before starting... sort of a torture session but i think it'll be worth it in the long run

You've got more self restraint than me
Manuals should be a last resort

lets just say my first memory of my dad losing it was way back when i was like 5 and he was building our first family pc... he didn't read the manuals, and what should have taken a half hour to an hour took like 4 days
i can't afford to waste that kind of precious time hahaha

I'm not too sure if we're still talking about building computers here.

its almost 4am and i'm still slaving away at building my new PC...
so many cables, switches, confusing manuals, and oh god i've got boxes and boxes to tear up and trash after all is said and done...
so much for my hopeful "home at 5, built before 9"
i'm thinking that i'm closer to being done than i realize, but i've been at this for almost 11 hours, save 2 hours for a break.
here's where i shrug and say that at least i know it'll be up and running sooner or later, right?
time for a nap, pics to come

Oh wow, 11 hours?
Was that including reading manuals? I'm inclined to wonder what you have been doing all that time >_<
Hope you get it done soon

Holy crap dude! Get some sleep before you start making mistakes. You gotta give your brain some rest so it can think clearly.

the reason it took so long was i wanted it to be perfect, and i don't want to jinx anything but i took my time and had NO issues.
posted first try, booted right up EXTREMELY fast
i now have the current nvidia drivers for my BFG 7800 GT OC, and it's running quite nicely, just not sure what the best possible settings i can get out of it are
pictures are on my camera right now, and i'll be posting some as soon as i unwind with some games hahahaha
the only issues i had were finding my p180's manual to figure out the proper way to install my PSU, and the one thing that almost drove me mad: the fan clips for the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme.... they SUCK.
that is all for now.
