I'm looking to get one and have no idea where to start.

I would like PC Card but would not be adverse to USB.

I'd start with the "big" companies and see what they have to offer: Linksys, Belkin, and D-Link are all quality companies that have pretty good products. Get one that supports BT version 2.0 and USB 2.0. Depending on the laptop you have - and the application that you want the BT for, you might want to see if your laptop's manufacturer has a BT module. The good thing about that is it doesn't stick out and take up a USB slot, the bad thing is that these are usually more expensive and might not be compatible with many BT peripherals.

I think you can get away with finding a quality BT dongle for less than $30. Now, depending on what you are trying to do (BT mice, headsets, VoIP, etc.), you may need to look at the bundled software that each has.

I purchased this one mainly because it was known to work with Linux, but I also installed it on a windows box without any problems.

I was even able to connect my cell phone to it and send my contacts to my PC.

It is Bt 2.0 and USB 2.0 compatible. And it is pretty small... which I think is a good thing so it doesn't stick out too far. I'd recommend it.

Just ordered the card that goes with my laptop internally. it was only 20$ + shipping. I have the drivers and what not so it'll make this simple

Probably the best (and easiest) thing to do. You really shouldn't have any problems connecting to devices for use.
