Acer gets Gateway's cow ...

Let's see what else Acer gets out of the deal too ...
Acer years back bought out the TI computer business unit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Instruments (see consumer electronics section)
Packard-Bell (P-B) years back bought out ZDA (Zenith Data Systems). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packard_Bell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenith_Data_Systems
Both TI and Zenith were the early runners of the first real home PC's before the IBM 8086/8088's ever arrived on the scene. (Ti-99/4A /4B /4C)
So today, Acer = TI + Gateway + eMAchines + Packard-Bell + ZDS (Heathkit). Did I miss any others in this equation? I couldn't find a postitve connection of P-B owning AST Research that also owned GRID computers and the Tandy PC business. Only information that the previous owner of P-B purchased them and closed the doors in 2001.
Back in the 1920-1940's, many of the automobile companies in America bought small competitors. Around WWI, there were the "Big Three" car companies. Sure, there were other little ones out there, but either didn't last or later got swallowed up.
With that said, Dell, HP and now ACER seem to be the "Big Three" in the computer IT consumer industry.
HP would be like GM
Dell like Ford
ACER like Chrysler.
ACER has everything good going for it since it can grow and draw on many diverse industry intellectual property technologies. Another bonus are the R&D centers globally that it has just aquired too. Now is the time to own ACER stock, even as the market is weak for a great price!
