found a deal for 30 dollars and 10 shipping on a 6600gt oc agp and that's exactly waht I was looking for. so I hopped on it. It accepted paypal, so I have buyer protection and it said gauranteed non doa. So I went for it. Guess what it is doa. green lines all up in my bios and lines all over the place. guess I need to contact the seller and see what I can do about a replacement/refund or try to get the lifetime warranty out of bfg. something along those lines. Any ideas?

if he doesnt refund, take it to paypal. pretty much all you can do. Also file with Ebay.

you can file a claim in ebay and also in paypal, the process should take about a week if you escalate the dispute to a claim on paypal.

care to list the sellers' name so others may be aware? I've never had any problems with buying ANYTHING from ebay, and I've bought electronics several times for far more than $30. You just have to be cautious of the seller, and it sounds like you found a bad one. it's possible the card was damaged in transit, but unlikely. Contact the seller, tell them the card doesn't work properly and that you would like to be refunded purchase price, plus shipping (both ways if they want the card back). If you haven't rec'd an appropriate response in 3 days, contact ebay.

When the ATi 9800 series cards came out, I bought my 9800 Pro off of EBay, no problems. 100% brand new! Sorry to hear about your troubles! I usually don't buy stuff from people with low ratings or a very poor advertisement. I always check feedback regardless.

bring the problem to Paypal - I bought something through paypal and never received it. I complained to paypal and got my money back pretty much instantly.

well I got a response about a week after I sent a message to the seller and hes issuing me a refund. Its a large seller though because this person has a lot of good feedback liek 99.7% of 2k or more transactions. Either way, if the person or company (I think its a company's surplus stuff being sold on ebay) does screw me then i'll plaster the name on this. Until then I think they are handling it well. -Darin

well refund was issued with an apology for taking a while to get back and for the doa product. never gotten money through paypal before does it just credit me, or do I get a check in the mail? maybe I'll try it again with a purchase of a gfx on ebay since I need a sm 3.0 agp card preferably for cheap. If it works maybe I should change the title of the thread to be wary when purchasing computer parts on ebay.

The money will just be in your account on paypal. You will have to go in and transfer it to your bank or just leave it there to make your next purchase from your account, instead of drawing from your bank/cc again.

So an update to this story. They guy didn't want the card back, and I made sure of it multiple times. So then the not working 6600gt oc was just sitting around not working. I decided to test the lifetime warranty on it. I called them up and sure enough they said send it in and we'll replace it. I of course ran out paid 10 dollars to priority ship it, and less than a week later I got the card back. to my suprise though it looked different. I thought nothing of it until I installed the driver and it was a 7600gs. I was pissed, until I remembered it was better than the 6600 gt and then I was very happy. Thought it was cool and that i'd share. oh and it has 512mb ram instead of 128 on the 6600gt. still agp, but hey that's what I needed.

Maybe you should change the title to "buy GFX" since you just got a better card than what you bid. So basically you got your money back, got to keep the card and exchange it for a newer card for only $10

I guess that shows that BFG is a good brand of video card to buy....

I did an RMA on a BFG plain vanilla 6800 AGP card a few years ago and got back a 6800GT. Mine was an ebay purchase as well.

How do you return the card without the original proof of purchase? Did the original purchaser have it registered? Or does BFG just not care?

I think it's just you have a serial number of a product that has a lifetime warranty for it, and you send it in, you get it replaced. So I guess that means they don't care. I have the box the 6600gt came in though. they didn't want it. Just the serial number, rma number on the package and that's it.

That sounds like excellent customer service...kinda rare these days...woot BFG.
A lot of companies hide behind a bunch of red tape in an attempt to avoid honoring a warranty.
