From your sig it looks like you have the 64 bit Vista , with WMP 11 installed. I know alot of programs dont run properly on that (you would think M$ programs would though) have you tried google for people that are having the same problem?

I've been looking on google, and in my programs wmp is not listed so I can't try to remove it or role it back I downloaded wmp from microsoft.com to try reinstalling but it says the one installed is a newer version so it can't install it. Wmp use to work I don't know what went wrong.

Im not on a Vista system right now, but does it have a checkbox at the top of the program list like XP? if it does make sure its checked to list the updates. Look for an WMP update to uninstall.

actually on my Vista Ultimate it was to the left under tasks as "view installed updates"
You could try pulling up the properties of media player and select the "previous versions" tab and revert to an older version from the shadow copy. if that works you can run the updates again or download and install a "Newer" version

It says there is no previous version and there are no wmp updates and it doesn't show up in my add/remove programs, I'll keep looking on the web for a solution.
