I have a Dell laptop that I am going to sell locally, (not on LR), and I would like to get some ideas from you guys on an estimated value. I have thoughts of my own, but I don't want to over or under price it. Thanks

Dell Inspiron 8100, Intel P3 mobile CPU, 1000MHz, 512MB Ram, Fujutsi 60GB Hard Drive, Toshiba DVD/CD Rom, Geforce4 440 Go (AGP), 56k V.90 Mini PCI modem, 3Com 10/100 Mini PCI Ethernet Adapter, ESS Maestro3 PCI Audio, 15" Display, XP Pro Media Center SP2.

Software - Mozilla Firefox, AVG 7.5, AVG Anti-Spy, AVS DVD player, CCleaner, CPU-Z

I purchased the video card, hard drive and new battery approx. 3 months ago. I have owned it since new, and has been well maintained. Would be a great laptop for a college student or anyone who just wants to run general purpose software.

I know its not worth anywhere near what I paid for it, but just wanted a ballpark figure. Thanks for the help.

aim high and go low...log into ebay and see what similar processors are selling for. Usually you can get $250-$300 for a used notebook that is in good shape with specs around those.

I sold an old 15.4" notebook with an Intel 755 processor and 2GB of memory for $300 a couple months ago.... Hard to get much more with new ones going for $400 at wal-mart and such.

Ya I know exactly what you mean. For years I sold my old Dell desktops (usually no more than 2-3 years old) for an easy $500. Then every retailer started their "budget" line computers that are filled with inferior components and offer little or no ability to upgrade easily. Most of them have celeron or sempron processors and onboard components that are difficult to upgrade without doing a mobo upgrade. These budget lines have killed the resale market for good used computers. Thank goodness there are still some educated people out there that realize the value of a good pre-owned system.

This is the main reason that I started building my own computers. I used to buy a new Dell desktop or laptop every year until Dell and their budget line comps made it impossible for me to get a good resale value for my pre-owned models.
