Somethings is buggered up, any ideas?

Recently, I've been having a few problems with selelct games on my computer. The two games I'm having trouble are COD:UO and PSU. For COD, whenever I adjust the sound or video settings and the game has to restart, I get a black screen and, although I can hear my mouse moving over menu things, I can't see anything. Ususally I turn my screen off and on and my picture will return within a few seconds. Another issue I'm having on COD is that for UO, EAX always seems to wanna put me in a room that echos and every now and then, everything starts echoing and I have to shut off EAX. For PSU, when I start the game the screen remains black for a minute or so before the game actually opens.

Not that big an issue for any of it but nothing I do really helps so if you've got some ideas give me a shout.

Updated to the latest videocard drivers?

Are there any game patches out?
