BIOS Settings Question

I just had a LANBoy SLI-D Ultra have a fit while switching around some hardware.

Can you tell me what settings I should use?

The computer:

AMD X2 3800+
DDR PC3200 400 MHz
nVidia 7800 GTOC

My FSB says 200. Should it not be 400? I set it and it failed on post. Here is the default settings:

FSB 200 What is the correct speed?
LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio: "Auto"
PCIE Frequency Ratio: "Auto"
CPU/FSB Frequency Ratio: "Auto"

What is LDT mean? What should I change the Auto settings to?

Presently, what is the speed of my CPU with those settings. The MB says on boot I have a 3800+, but it seems crawl in games and stuff like HL2.

Finally, I have been running http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/ and everytime I do the GPU crashes on the present low FSB setting (and auto) for everything else. How can I tell the temperature of the CPU, the GPU and stuff to see what the issue is?

According to http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/di ... 00_12.html if your multiplier is set to 10X your FSB should be at 240

LDT - An interconnection standard introduced by AMD that allows for fast data transfers among the Northbridge part of a chipset, the PCI bus(es), and the Southbridge part. In a multiprocessing machine the LDT bus can transfer data between sets of two processors. AMD now calls this technology HyperTransport.

use speed fan http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php to measure your CPU and GPU temperatures, do you have the latest drivers for you 7800gt? their should be a section in their that allows you to see the temperature of your graphics card.

Yes, I have the latest drivers for my 7800GT.

Thanks for the info, I'll reset and change the settings up. Hopefully that will help the situation.

The BIOS has shoddy names for settigns. Technically, every AMD platform after the K7 doesn't even have an FSB.

Correct (stock) speed is 200 MHz.

LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio: "Auto" - Here the stock/auto setting is 5x, giving an HT link speed of 1000 MHz. This setting doesn't matter a whole lot, if it gets too high, instability happens, it can't really be too low for most purposes, as most PC uses don't even saturate the bus at 200 MHz.
PCIE Frequency Ratio: "Auto" - Stock/auto setting is 100, don't change this, at best there's no difference, at worst, you get instability.
CPU/FSB Frequency Ratio: "Auto" - CPU multiplier, stock for the 3800+ is 10x, doubtful you'd ever want to lower this.

I know this board inside and out, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks, ends up the card is bad. I started really having issues and ended up calling BFG. They said it is a bad card. What sucks is they won't RMA it except for the original owner. Makes it tougher than it should be, but still doable. I wish companies would just make it easier to return lifetime warranty stuff.
