.NET framework question

trying to free up some space on my C drive, so is it okay to delete/uninstall the .NET framework 1.1 if i have 2.0 installed?

I think 1.1 and 2.0 are completely different and independent, until you get to 3.0. so I think you have to keep it.

If I'm not mistaken, you can remove 1.1 and have no effect on 2.0

3.0 is in Vista.
Don't know if you can download it for XP or not. ???

I never installed 1.1, only 2.0. and No 3.0 works with XP as well, its not Vista only

Actually 1.1 and 2.0 are different. MS did push developers to update all apps to work with7 2.0, and most did before the 2.0 release, but you still occasionally (rarer every week) run across old versions that don't function if you don't have 1.1...
as most of the old versions have been surpassed by newer, better things, it probably won't even be noticable to most users if they don't have 1.1
