HD DVD and Blue Ray Drives

Post by dgood »

So how long until they release HD-DVD drives for computers (internal that is)? I know they have blue ray drives out already. I think once they do, building a home theater pc might just be the best way to go about getting the best of both worlds. hdmi input and some hd sound. If only (I do hope) hd dvd will come out soon internal and drive blue ray prices down too. I do love a good price war.

they have the dual-format internal drives now...

LG Blu-ray/HD DVD-ROM & 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model GGC-H20L is an example of one, but it will set you back a cool $299 on newegg.

Yeah but thats ALOT better than the original $699 price tag on the original Blu-Ray drives.

Also, they are supposedly releasing a dual format disk that has Blu-Ray on one side and HDDVD on the other http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_Hi_Def

BTW, it's Blu-Ray, not Blue Ray; Sony could copyright the word Blu but not Blue  The odd thing is the laser used isn't even blue, at a wavelength of 405 nm it's more of a violet (maybe that's what they mean by Blu :) )

Total High Def... They better hurry and release it as the second half of 2007 is coming to a close... Those have to be high priced.
