help config gaming rig
so the budget is about 1100 dollars... can anyone help me config the best gaming rig out there? here is what i got so far. all prices are shown from new egg except the processor. Note: I want intel processor and Nvidia graphics. I also want the computer case i indicated (mid tower and 4 120mm fans).

Re: help config gaming rig
Corsair's PSU are built better and are the same or equal to in price.
Re: help config gaming rig
get a bigger monitor, or a widescreen or something. 17" lcd? get a 20" or 20.1" lcd. They are the same price.
Re: help config gaming rig
thanks for the input im already looking at the larger monitor. the PSU are more expensive from corsair tho from what i see on new egg.
Re: help config gaming rig
you may want to think about a DVD rom/CDRW, or DVD rw
most games now come in DVD format only, that would prevent you from using your gaming rig.

Re: help config gaming rig
A Corsair HX520w would be fine since you are not going SLI.DeusEx wrote: Where i could have screwed up: the power suppl and the motherboard. Thats 2 components i know nothing about. Is 700 watts appropriate or too much? also is the motherboard too expensive ?
The P35 motherboard you chose is fine...actually its one of the cheaper P35 boards that I would even consider.
Things I would consider changing:
Lite-On DVD Burner
Intel E6750
DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Ram
Don't forget that you also need an O.S. for a new build...If you want it to validate this is...
Re: help config gaming rig
CPU: E6750
RAM: Crucial Ballistix
Mobo: DFI BLOOD IRON P35-T2RL
PSU: Corsair HX520/VX550
IMO, this is a bit more expensive, but it will also overclock much better.

Re: help config gaming rig
well the thing is that this computer is for my little brother and he is paying for it. his budget was originally 1000 and i pushed it to 1100 but i cant go over that. The video cards are expensive as hell i noticed if you want some decent performance. I mean damn 300-500 for that alone? jesus man...
btw for this kind of a system whats a decent power supply wattage i should get? i was looking at 700 but someone offered 650. So how much do i need really?
Also thanks for the input... im def gonna get the better ram you posted and the lite on dvd drive... Thinking about the processor .. 20 $.. probably will get that too.
Now one last thing. This is the best video card i can get for the money right? cant get much better with this kind of a budget? i noticed 8800 gt was better than the gts but still runs call of juarez crummy even on modest resolutions?

Re: help config gaming rig
don't worry about Wattage, worry about quality of build and amps. Like what has already been said, the Corsair 520 is one of the best PSUs, and can be found all the time for 100$.
Re: help config gaming rig
so diccecca lets say i was to get the one you recommended. Everything will run with no problems even though its a 520 watt?

Re: help config gaming rig
absolutely, I'll see tomorrow if I can dig up the story, and I'm sure Nate can attest to this, they had a system running overclocked 8800gtx in SLI, 4 Raptors, and an overclocked Intel Quad Core with the 520
I ran a highly overclocked rig with that PSU that is very similar to the one you want to build. That rig will use 250-300W at load highly overclocked

Re: help config gaming rig
No, neither of those posts were the one I remember. The one I'm thinking of showed a rig with (2) 8800GTX SLI being easily powered by a Corsair HX520w PSU. It was a thing of beauty.
