I'm going to go insane without Counter-strike

Post by blitz121 »

Ok so I have my computer got a XFX 8600 GT XXX version and a 300-watt PSU. It's been going good for a good while since I bought it in august and just started giving me error message -Thread Stuck in video driver (will post code when it happens again.) The computer works ok when just using it for the net or anything close to it but if I try to play any game that I have tried (Mostly Counter-strike) It goes Error message screen and shuts off. Sometimes I can play a round untill it does this. The Computer displays message at the "Retrieving server info" part of the loading. Any suggestions?

could be power or a driver issue.

Download Driver Cleaner Pro and clear the driver in Safe Mode, then reboot and reinstall the driver (lasted WHQL driver)

If the problem persists it could be power. 300W is a little low, but I don't know what your computer consists of

1 - Uninstall, reinstall the game.
if this doesn't help...
2 - Uninstall video driver, run driver cleaner, reinstall newest driver
if this doesn't help...
3 - Upgrade PSU to at least Corsair 450VX

Anyway, try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers first.

Is that your CPU or GPU? If it's your GPU, it's a little hot, but it's fine.

55c idle temp is fine for a GPU. Not the greatest, but fine. My 7900GS idles at 46c, but who knows, maybe they are known to run cooler than the 8600GT.
