Anyone know any links for step by step instructions on building a pc? I have everything I need. I would just like to have a reference.

As it pertains to what?

It differs person to person

1. Pick Components
2. Buy Components
3. Assemble

Take motherboard, attach CPU, Cooler, Memory

Take case, attach fans and Opticals, install PSU

Place Motherboard et al in case

Attach Video Card and other peripherals cards

Attach power to all components

Plug power cable to PSU and into outlet, attach monitor, printer et al.

Boot, install OS, enjoy

sorry I wasnt very clear. Im looking for a reference to assemble. Your instructions seem like they cut to the chase.

Also, do you guys use wrist straps or anti static gloves? Ive even heard of people just pluging there PSU in and its supposed to ground.

I never do, I just make sure I'm not on a rug when I assemble and that I ground myself (touch something metal like a doorknob)

I don't understand your PSU question. All PSUs have a ground, its in the plug.

I forget where I read it. But, i guess you install the PSU and plug it in...but make sure the PSU switch is off. Something like that......

it'll be switched off automatically. Your motherboard is what turns it on.
the step you are at.
get the power supply and screw it in your computer case. from there. connect the only connector that connects to your motherboard.
don't rub your feet and play leap frog on carpet with parachute pants on before running to your motherboard tho

when i did my first build a few months back - the mother board manual and the CPU manual were very helpfull.. once you get the board in your case and the CPU in the board its just basically plug every thing in and hope it posts :drinkers: i got lucky and got it right the first time.

I actually helped an out of state friend by referring him to youtube or google video. he searched for keywords like "install video card" and "install processor" and it came up with some very basic instructional videos that walked him through the whole process. he said it was super simple after he watched all that, and hes never seen the inside of a computer before that then built his own system!

if i would have thought to check that legitreviews though, that link looks like it would have helped out alot too..

if you can pass pre-school you can build a computer. Its just the knowledge you learn that makes you smarter about what you do.
It's like that ball that has the shapes like stars circles, and squares. Sometimes you can get the star in the square but, you know if it fits it goes there. If you gotta twist and mess with it. its wrong.
