Time for an upgrade

I might as well ask for thoughts on my new build since I haven't had a lot of time to research. I have money to spend but it doesn't mean I want to waste it. I need gambling money for CES Vegas
Case - keeping the CM Stacker 830
Cooling - depends on the CPU maybe the new
swiftech water kits if I get a quad core.
CPU - depending on the release dates an Intel E8500 (3.16 GHz) or Q9550 (2.83 GHz). I'm hearing these quads may be delayed and the E8500 should be Jan 20
MB - Unless some new X38 boards come out very soon, the
Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 seems to be a decent choice
RAM -
CORSAIR Dominator 2GB DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
PSU - I have a Power PC & Cooling 510w psu that will probably be fine but I love the modular PSU's - so the
OCZ ModXStream 780w. I was also thinking of the
Corsair CMPSU-620HX 620 Watt PSU but the OCZ is prolly a little more futureproof
GPU - most likely the 8800 GTS 512MB depending in the price when it comes out in a few days, otherwise the 8800 GT
HDD - Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache
**This has already been purchased.
I haven't decided if I should part out my current rig or make a media PC or similar

if possible get the 8800gt vs the gts for price and performance. You said you wanted to save something so there is a start
other than that looks more like a dream build for most of us haha.
I am doing some upgrading in the near future just not needed quite yet. And the longer I wait the more money I seem to have. Putting more back in my company seems to help I guess

If the price is somewhat comparable I'll take the GTS because it has a better cooler and more SP's.

I will only say this once Joe, Corsair, or I will find your beaker and kidnap him. No OCZ Psus.

Why no to OCZ PSU? My GameXStream has been great. Problem free.

Some people just don't like them, doesn't matter if they've used them or not...........

I'm not a huge fan of them really, but the one in my rig has taken everything I've thrown at it from day one with zero issues.

Congrats! Now I'm just anxious to see how the pricing goes on them in the next few weeks.
You think you got a good deal?

I'm sure prices will drop in the coming months but that's the price for being on the cutting edge.

yeah... it won't be much different in the months ahead to be honest... look at the top to bottom lineup...
* GeForce 8800 Ultra - $699
* GeForce 8800 GTX $499-$599
* GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB $349-$399
* GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB $299 to $349
* GeForce 8800 GT $199 - $249
* GeForce 8600 GTS $149
* GeForce 8600 GT $109
* GeForce 8500 GT $79-$89
* GeForce 7300 GT 512MB $59-$69
* GeForce 8400 GS $49-$59
* GeForce 8300 GS OEM only
* GeForce 7300 GS $39-$49
* GeForce 7200 GS <$39
The GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB is going to be EOL soon and to be honest I don't think it serves a purpose any longer and should be totally removed from the list as the GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB is no where near $299. Then again neither are the GeForce 8800 GT's priced at $199-$249... these are what the prices will drop to next year after demand drops and supplies increase. By then the next generation GTX and Ultra will be out though.

Looking good! Just don't try to finish this under the influence

hey Joe load folding on that and crunch a WU, but I thought your were getting a 6 series and not a 8 series for CPU? If you have the 8, crunch a WU, so we can guage the numbers
