I've just had it!

Post by godling »

With these psychopath spammers who make emailing a miserable afair. I've not been dumb enough (or perverted enough) to submit my email to 1 gazillion explicit sites that make false promises, but this here is my oldest email account, taking a hit. I've reported tonnes of these messages as spam to Yahoo, and they're not listening..........at least not yet!

I was thinking of setting up some filters, but just look at the damn patterns! :axe:
Lord save the world from spammers.

Spam Filters are the best if Yahoo Supplies them. Gmail has very good email spam filters, catches almost everything, sometimes too much.

I have gmail, and a ton of spam, and I even have to make sure I go through the spam every once and a while to make sure nothing got marked that shouldn't have.

gmail > yahoo in my opinion

Make the switch and you won't have any spam for a longggg while, and you get a bunch of storage space. I have been with gmail since the beta, and I have 5.5 gigs of space. I think new accounts only get about 2.3 gigs... But still beats yahoo.

I have a Yahoo account that gets tons of spam no matter what I do.

I have a hotmail account that gets virtually no spam.

I haven't tried gmail, but have heard good things.

I won't ever use a different free mail, search capability is awesome, you can archive emails to get them out of the inbox instead of deleting, and there is an integrated IM feature with other gmail users.

I'm on dishmail.net and seldom ever get spam, I guess they don't target Sat users much, Spam filters catch most of the junk (cause it's really WildBlue Sat), I have Gmail and it rocks too, Yahoo not so much :axe: , I get a lot of Yahoo encrusted machines lol, I love Yahoo for one simple reason, when you fix puters it's money in da bank.

SBC/Yahoo on the original install for DSL 90+ Megs of ram, still killing all the old 256M ram machines out there running XP, runs good install Yahoo and snail slow. (90 + megs before they download the free virus stuff)

I've been with gmail since beta and love it, though I POP my email to Thunderbird for additional spam protection and filters and such...haven't gotten any spam since I first signed up (except for the stupid cutesy crap from family members). I've completely dropped my Yahoo! account mainly because you can't POP your mail, at least not with the free accounts. I still use it for IMs and such but not much else...

I had a really nice email account with hardly any spam until a friend of mine started sending dumb internet jokes to the masses. Once a month of this went on, the account is spam trashed! :?

And you're very right about the special characters in the subject line. There's really no way to quarantine it off.

Curses those spammers! :snakeman:

I use several web email accounts including several that i consider "throw away" accounts which are the ones i use when an address is required on sites i am not familiar with or various web offers. I'll check them when needed to keep them and just leave them if they start getting alot of spam.

I've had Hotmail for a long time now and their spam blocking is #&%*. I eventually had to set it only put people from my contact list into my Inbox. Everything else goes to my Junk box, which is full all the time. I feel that reporting spam to MS/Hotmail makes no difference what-so-ever.
