Windows only shows 3.5gigs of ram?

I have 4 gigs of ram installed in my computer and windows xp is only showing 3.5gigs.
I am running a intel Dq965GF motherboard, and in teh bios it sees all of the ram.

Help please i am at a lan atm hurry back

The limitation has nothing to do with the CPU being 64 bit running in 32 bits!

It's the addressable memory of 32bits. The limit is still there with a Pentium pro

When running a 32 bit OS, the CPU IS 32 bit ;)

if you run windows 2003 it will work.

Only the 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003 will. In which case, you might as well run Vista 64-bit, since neither Server 2003 nor XP 64-bit (based off of Server 2003, rather than XP) have extensive hardware/software support.

I use 4GB of RAM with Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise Service Pack2@32bits and can use 4GB of RAM. With XP i have the same problem.
