"I love someone," Cell Phone Virus

Post by Tech_Greek »

Yeah,

So I just open txt messages I receive on my phone via a notice it gives me all the time - not anymore.

I just got a message stating "I love someone," from a lady friend of mine ;) and I opened it up for my phone to say ERROR and power off...

Turned my phone back on and now my texting is broken and I'm sure it's probbaly sending messages outbound with the damn virus right now, and I'm on the phone with Alltell and they said I might have to flash the phone...grrrr

Heads Up!

*EDIT: Yep, got to get it flashed  *

It's actually a Samsung SCH-R200 - It's a little crappy work phone.

I was thinking about taking a video, but my camera battery is dead so I can't video it!

Just don't open any text messages that say "I love someone" If you get a text message, call that person and ask them if they sent it.

It said I love someone, and this is a lady friend of mine whom I have regular relations with O:) so I assumed it was about something we had done the night before. :snakeman:

Went to Alltell and they couldnt even get it out of the system after a full reset, flash, and formating the phone. ](*,)

Waiting on my new phone now...grrr

I've gotten one more and it stopped but this time I didn't even open it, but it still won't let me delete it!

Ouch, a virus that can brick your cell is a bit scary though I'm betting it's specific to the model of phone...I'm surprised that flashing the phone didn't work, though perhaps the flash just went poorly. I've flashed my Moto SLVR a few times with no problems to unlock certain features that I would otherwise have to pay a monthly fee to use ($6 a month for voice dial, forget that) but I've never had any problems with it and thankfully I've never gotten a virus on it (and hopefully never will as it's been discontinued). I have used a program on my cell (and some hidden features unlocked with a flash) to hack others cell phones through their open bluetooth connection but all the program did was show the files on their cell so I could convince them to turn off there bluetooth when not in use, perhaps the virus you encountered used a similar venerability to replace files on your cell and posed as a text message in the process; perhaps not. Good luck with your new phone anyway.
