Hello, I've got a friend who can't remember his password for anything, this is on a Windows 2000 system, and I was wondering, instead of formatting the whole shebang, is there a way I can just reset the password to the windows login?

give that a whirl and see if anything on there helps you.
Windows xp there is a way to do it through repairing the installation from the original cd/dvd - you could try to see if windows 2000 will let you do the same thing since he should have his cd/dvd.

Yea it can be reset, Google a program called Cia Commander. I use it on XP, and 2k. Works great saves mounds of headaches. Several ways of getting it, one of which is buy it (cough) not that I advocate any other method.
