Sorry if this is in wrong section I wasnt sure.

A local computer store is selling some of there comps one kind of looked good for $369 the specs were

is that a XP 2500? socket 462(A)? because that is Pretty old, and 256mb expandable? i wonder if that just means there are two slots that can hold 1Gb each and there is currently just one stick of 256mb(which is basically useless unless the PC is ONLY for surfing the net)

$370 looks pretty steep for parts that are that outdated, is the monitor included?, because it doesnt say

what would this computer be for?

if you were up to building a PC, you could get MUCH better parts than that from buying from newegg.com(unbeatable prices ) and you could have room to upgrade in the future(with motherboards that old(skt A) you cant really upgrade without buying a new board, CPU, RAM, and videocard)

You can pick up a really nice laptop with a few more extras (120HDD, 2Gb RAM, better graphics) for about $410 now.

That processor is slow and the memory is low. However, for Windows XP it's a start. In my computer swapper locally, a box like that could run around $245 to $300.

It kinda looks like one of the antiquated systems they offer on Tiger Direct.

only a handful of XP's have been released since April '04(which is actually surprising to me that any are that new) DDR technology is long gone(beginning DDR3 now) and single core CPU's are being phased out, and CRT monitors are rarely sold also, and i bet that's and AGP board, which equally becoming ancient

That is a total pushoff. They're trying to get people to buy outdated stuff, probably to clear out the stockroom.

Anyway, I just built my mom a PC for $200 that beats the crap out of the one she had before... Now mind you this would have cost more if it weren't for Legit Reviews, because the Pentium D 830 and ECS 945P-A rev. 1.1 (the only good version of that board) came from here. I will finally post pics of it once I am finished with putting it together (parts should get here Wednesday).

A nice laptop for $410 , how much GB would it hold if I were to buy a laptop I want to put like 5-7 games on it Warcraft III , WoW, SC , Medieval 2 , Lotr BFME 2 ROTWK , Stronghold 2

I wouldn't worry about the hard drive if I were buying a "gaming" laptop. The most important parts are the CPU and video card...with the video card being the most important. Most any C2D will be great.

You won't buy a gaming laptop for that price. All laptops at that price will have "integrated" video, which is not good for gaming.

You can buy a laptop with a large hard drive to store lots of games, but if the computer won't run them, then what is the point?

That's an out dated system, dead socket A platform, older ram, you can do better. I just sold a HP dual core x2 3800, 1.25 gig ram, 100 gig hd, 256 mg pcie x 16 video card (nvidia card not built in video), dvd burner, 17 inch crt, vista premium machine complete with speakers, keyboard, mouse for 350. You can do better.

also, the system you have listed for sale has no video card. your looking at another $150 for a good AGP card that can play the games you want to play.. not to mention another $50-$100 for RAM. Try Ubid.com.. they have great deal on refurbished computers. very cheap.. if you dont want to build your own.

Thats a terrible deal, I donat better systems than that, you should look around for another local computer shop or buy something online.

I'm gonna try and get 1000$ and buy a good gaming laptop with that because its hard for me to build rig if i want vista and dx10 when I don't have the disc and dont know where to get it, plus I've never built a rig.

You will most likely be able to buy a copy of Vista at any vendor that sells computer parts...just add it into your budget.
