What kind of external HD is it? What is your OS at work? And did you check with IT to see if you are allowed to plug it in at work?

We have drives already mapped on my computer at work.

Do you have an E/F drive already?

Can you acces tcomputer management to change the drive letters and paths? You need to right click my computer and click 'manage'. --> disk management --> right click your disk in the top menu --> change drive letters and paths, to something that isnt being used.
