I've hear rumors that Samsung might buy AMD. Rumors are just that, rumors. But it's fun to hear.

hmm, well amd isnt worth crap nowadays so i guess it wouldnt be too hard for samsung to buy them

Nvidia VP exericises options

NEW YORK (AP) - The vice president of worldwide sales at Nvidia Corp., which makes graphics cards for computers, exercised options for 108,389 shares of common stock, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

In a Form 4 filed with the SEC Thursday, Ajay K. Puri reported exercising options for the shares Wednesday for $12.05 apiece and then sold all of them Wednesday and Thursday for $36 to $36.29 apiece.

Insiders file Form 4s with the SEC to report transactions in their companies' shares. Open market purchases and sales must be reported within two business days of the transaction.

Nvidia is based in Santa Clara, Calif.

yeah now that amd has their 790fx out, they combining crossfire/phenom, and intel is making mobos with crossfire yet amd wants people to buy all amd stuff, so imagine a x38mobo with sli D:

It would be a nice way to kill DAAMIT.

It might not be tomorrow, but it's gonna/gotta happen, for Intel's sake. Intel NEED GFX performance.

ATI will go down with AMD, unless there's a big investment from someone. IF someone does come with cash, then Intel will be in a worse off position.

IF Intel buys NV, they get the chip set business.......they can do what they want with this as Intel have their CSI interconnect on the way. They will prolly just nick a few patents and they kill of that part of the business.
IF/When they get NV, they will have everything they every wanted.......CPU's, Chip sets and GFX!

It all depends on Ajay K. Puri and the rest of NV, historically Nvidia and Intel hate each other......with a passion, but NV look like they are getting greedy and it's the perfect time for an acquisition, especially when AMD/ATI are at an all time low!

There's another smaller fish in the pond too called VIA that makes integrated video besides their own x86 CPUs.

If Intel doesn't pick up nVidia, then a merger of nVidia and VIA could be an option.

It's really hard to say one way or the other. Just because a CEO excersizes options it doesn't mean much.

this is something i dont quite get, do the mobo manufacturers just take the intel chipsets and use them with any thing they want, because it would seem odd for intel to be making crossfire mobos which basically promote/support the competitors product, why wouldnt they just make intel chipsets with nvid gfx because even if intel and nvid dont merge at least intel's competitor doesnt get anything out of the deal

Intel and ATI aren't competitors because Nvidia isn't part of Intel.

Intel is just trying to get some of the ATI graphics market by giving computer builders the option of crossfire.

Nothing will happpen and INtel will continue to develop its own graphics. I can see MAYBE a partnership, but I think they would kill Nvidia if they bought it.

Yes, but ATI = AMD = Intel competitor.

I think Intel has invested too much in Larabee to quit now.

They dont want Nvidia, theyll do things their own way. I think its far more likely that Nvidia will buy AMD. Rumors pop up every 6-12 months that Nvidia wants in the x86 market, that would give them the means. Also AMD is obviously having problems with their chips. Nvidia hasn't many problems since the Geforce FX series. Thats because Nvidia builds their chips thru computer simulation rather than expensive core revisions, if they brought that idea to AMD then maybe their next proc wont be 12 months overdue.

But then again Samsung could buy AMD and invest millions of dollars into them and it probably wouldnt even put a dent into their profits.

If AMD gets bought out I'd prefer it to be by nVidea, chances are with their resources, chip simulation process and marketing ability they could do some good with it.

What do I think will happen, I think I'll go to Intel and not worry about it.

Where did you hear this?
NV have to rely on software simulations because they are fabless!
I'm willing to put money on the fact that this hinders Nvidia more than it does for AMD.
Nvidia have to run to TSMC/UMC etc to get something taped out......hence their reliance on software to simulate how the chip will run. This is actually the reason the GforceFX series bombed so much. On paper the chip was ok, they just didn't account for the leakage when using 90nm. Having their own FAB would have diagnosed this problem on the first revision of chip(s)!
