A while ago I started up my comp as usual, but it got to the xp loading screen, it was very dim and slowly coming into view, as if it was loading extremely slowly. I restarted the comp and it booted up fine. Today, it happened twice more.. so its not a 'fluke' anymore. It works when I restart the computer, but it asks for a 'normal startup' or safemode or recover to last working position. Anyways, this problem is starting to worry me. Any advice?

It sounds like you installed a program/MS Update and it's applying that update at the startup. There could also be a lot of programs loading with Windows. Open up msconfig and post a screenshot of that list.
