graphic card temps

Post by tonyrunkz »

hey whats up guys' Ive notice alot of talk about temps about the 8800gt why do ppl get so hyped up about it. i mean i know the cooler it is the more u can overclock .some people are running cards at stock and are saying there temps are high i think it mainly about your computer airflow because i have a 8800 gt and it stays cool at stock haven't overclocke'd it or anything yet it around 52-53 depending on my room temps even lower . can we ellaborate more on ths topic so i can get a betta understanding why alot of ppl get bad temps.

Is your 52-53 temps load or idle in Windows?????????

My OC'd 8800GT idles around 28-30 (depending on room temp) and full load stress testing reaches maybe 40c on a warm day.

it all depends (BIO, those seem really low to me  my card is idle/gaming @ 43/52 and if i get annoyed with fan sounds its at 48/havnt checked)

i think that mostly, the stock settings are good and if you OC, you just need to crank up the fans, and be all set, a video card would not be released if the stock settings would make it overheat under load(unless your gaming on the sun or a place of rediculous temperatures)

I'm not sure about all video cards, but mine came with the fan set to 25% and my temps were around 68c at idle. Using Rivatuner, I cranked the fan up to 50% and that dropped my idle temp to 46c. Under load my temp is around 58c, so the fan speed made a big difference. I set it up so the fan speed increases to 80% at 55c. Temps on that card will vary from case to case depending on ambient temp, cooling and air circulation.

Mine is under water cooling, never really stressed it at all with air cooling.............. When I got the card, I installed it for a day to see if it worked, then pulled it and installed put it into my water cooling loop.
