i know what your thinking, and no, im not going intel (yet) i was wondering what AMDs CPUs convert to Intel as (ie, Athlon XP 2800= P4 2.2GHz(or something the like)) and can i get athlon XP, 64, and 64 X2

really tough to break it down like that as amd/intel do better on certain benchmarks and poorly on others...
Also with AMD you have the 45W dual-cores the BE-2400 and such, which are nice low voltage parts... Nothing like a complete system running sub 40W at idle.

well, dont need newest, i know that quads are no contest, intel is the way to go, regardless of frequencies, and wolfdale or conroe are both better than newest X2s, i want to know like, Athlon XPs were released competing with celerons or Pentium 4s, then between that, broken down by frequencies, like, the XP series needed 400MHz less to have equal performance to pentium 4's

I think the rule for newer procs is 100% X2 = 80~85% Core 2. No idea about older. Core 2's are twice as fast clock for clock compared to latest P4s, iirc, so maybe derive the relative performance from that?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but aside from
Tom's review, do you know of any other review that compares AMD's BE-series to Intel's E2000 series? I don't recall seeing power consumption for the systems in Tom's review and their conclusion was biased towards Intel. I'm interested to see if it holds any truth or if they're just feeding us bull again.

I have all the BE series processors here, but no Intel E2000 series... If you want to send me one I'll check it out ;)
