Friggin SD Card
So I'm on the brink of going ahead and formatting vista over because of that fact I've had nothing but issues with the default install...but unfortuantley my install cd is scratched so I'm in the process of downloading another one as we speak (WITH SP1 thank god).
Anyway, my problem is my SD Card (doesnt matter which SD Card I put in there) shows up as an XD Card...d'oh
I've tried deleting drivers and reinstalling, tried looking for updated drivers, tried forcing an SD Card Driver on the XD Card Reader (no go)...so I'm out of ideas.

RICOH R5C83x/84x Flash Media Controller Driver Ver.3.51.01
It's built in to my laptop I think it has to do with the HP Install of Vista Home Prem because I've had issue after issue with things like Sleep mode, etc.

Re: Friggin SD Card
Assuming that since your doing vista that is your new laptop. There are two installers on HP's site (32&43bit) have you tried the installers or did you grab the driver files themselves and let vista find them?

I give up, Vista w/ Sp1 is almost done downloading from MSDN so I'll just install it via that way and say screw HP's install! lol

Re: Friggin SD Card
My HP laptop has media card issues too and it's on XP SP3. They had a driver update for mine, and a Bios update and it still has issues. So it might be a Vista thing or it might be a HP thing. Eventually I found a 3rd party SM bus driver and that corrected a lot of it but I still keep the camera cable handy.

It worked perfectly for the first few weeks - now this....
And I'm sitting on vista ultimate sp1 now, fresh install - no dice, still the same ****.

Re: Friggin SD Card
Mine worked great for about the first month.
Also I forgot to tell you that at Wal-Mart they have a CD scratch remover that works great for cheap. It's the only one they have with out one of those little crank machines with it. It's usually on a hang card up with the disks. Smear this pasty brown gunk thinly on the CD wait until it drys, then polish it off by hand with the included cloth. I ran out a while back and can't remember the name, Memorex or 3M I believe. It's easy to find it's the only sub $10 scratch product they have.
Might save the big download next time.

Re: Friggin SD Card
Oh, I have unlimited downloads from MSDN for OS's so I'm not worried about that.
My SD Card reader started working out of the blue - no reason why...but I see windows updated so maybe they released a patch today?

Re: Friggin SD Card
My reader is sporadic at best with working. SOmetimes it will read and write like there is no tomorrow, then all of a sudden windows finds it, but it wont ever see some of the card slots being used...its wierd. I have had this problem since Windows XP, with no help found.Tech_Greek wrote:Oh, I have unlimited downloads from MSDN for OS's so I'm not worried about that.
