Hello i have another question,. I have a dimension 4600 with a 2.66 p4 non hyper thred
my manual says that my motherboard supports ht processors. so my question is can i put this p4 3.4 ht processor in my motherboard
ive checked with dell and this is what they say:
Microprocessor type
IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® 4 that runs at 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, or 3.0 GHz internally and 800 MHz externally; or 2.26, 2.4, 2.53, 2.666, 2.8, or 3.06 GHz internally and 533 MHz externally.
Level 1 (L1) cache
8 KB first-level
Level 2 (L2) cache
512-KB (displayed in the system setup program) pipelined-burst, eight-way set associative, write-back SRAM
now,.. as i look at other processors at intel.com they have a 3.4 that supports my chipset
Frome dell.com
System Information
System chip set
Intel 865PE 865pe
DMA channels
eight
Interrupt levels
24 APIC mode
System BIOS chip
4 Mb (512 KB)
System clock
533- or 800-MHz data rate
Check this link out and pleas give me some feedback,, http://compare.intel.com/pcc/showchart. ... ture=en-US
I think this should fit unless dell limited processor types to make more money on there systems
I know most of you think i should chuck this system right out the window but i guess its sentamentle to me.
spending alittle to make it faster doesent bother me really,, besids i have my new computer comin already
well atleast the mobo anyway..
the only descrepincy i can see is the 1mb l2 cache and my manual says 512 l2 cache
PLeas any info is nice thanks,.... Pugs
