InspectahACE wrote::oops: yes sadly. UPS was playing around with the shipping time of the parts so I didn't order the new cooler yet..told me thursday but they arrived friday..had i know it would arrive Friday I would've overnighted it to arrive on the same day lol..also, the way the motherboard mounting holes were placed, are kind of odd. I thought the gigantic hole on the tray was for not having to remove the motherboard to install a "non-push pin"cooler..yet the mounts are off by quarter to half inch so i still have to take it out..which im waiting to do anyway due i gotta crack the case open again soon when i get the rest of the parts..even prevents me from using 2 psu's when doing TRI-SLI

Where the heck would you put a second PSU anyway?

I have it installed on every computer in my house and control them all from my daily driver. Tuck the kb/mouse away in case you need to direct control the computer.
I didnt know about that..ill definitely look into that..i just got the wireless keyboard/mouse to be cheap and no clutter lol..

Pretty cluttered. I've never been a fan for those styled drive covers on some of the cases that are out there. Here's what I'd do Tuck. Looking by the drive bays I see some places to use zip ties to hold the cable to the motherboard tray. I'd use them to pull the cables out of the way of the drive bays to improve airflow.

You might also want to consider sleeving some of the cables to make them look a little nicer. Sleaving materials can be bought from many cooling parts vendors for as little as $10. Using shorter SATA cables would help as well and they are fairly cheap from places like MonoPrice. It sucks that you don't have any way to hide cables on the back of the motherboard tray.

He's not done too bad with the awkward power connector placements on the motherboard, so go easy skipp :axe:

Not everyone finds it easy to know where to put wires out of the way :P

i have got my rig cables to the best airflow posable and i cant do anything else to help airflow but thats not my problem. my psu is so oh well. by the way i did a power supply test in occt and it basically does every test all at the same time and my pc turns off so unfortunatly it is a psu fault. also my psu 12v is reading 6,86 and bios reads 11.2. my max of both 12v's are 22a.

by max of both 12V 22Amps do you mean each or combined? If combined then you should look for a bigger psu! Those 9800GT's must be dying for more power

Haha I guess this will be my intro to the LR forums :]

This is my dorm room setup. Specs are in the sig.

I have an affinity with cable ties.
Notice the ghetto fan mod to the back of the case, stuck in place with cable ties.
You'll soon see why I had to move the rear case fan.. outside the case. #-o
Image

I forgot to wipe the brushed aluminum side panel down before taking the pix a while ago :/
But I chose this case just so it would be quieter in case I have roommates that can't sleep with fan noise (and I just happened to get one who can't sleep with any noise).
(The case is prefit with foam on the two side panels to dampen the noise, rubber on the edges of the panels to seal noise in it.)
And the fact that it doesn't have a side panel makes it less attractive since people walking into the room won't know what's inside of it right away. (my old case lit my room with a blue glow :) )
Image

What's under the hood, so to speak.
The Scythe Orochi heatsink.. is MASSIVE.
Image

With the air duct removed, you can see the 4870x2 and the X-Fi card :]
Image

You can't really see it here, but the Orochi barely clears the DHX coolers on the ram. The ram in the slot closest to the CPU has less than 0.25" space between it and the copper heatpipe from the cooler.
Image

I just made a custom fan mod to the case two days ago by hanging a 12cm fan from the top blowing air into the heatpipes of the Orochi.
I've been in an overclocking mood, but it seems like the Orochi doesn't pull enough heat off of my QX6850 processor, so having a fan blow air directly into my heatpipes has lowered my temps by 7-9 degrees idle. :]
I left my camera at home, so a cell phone pix will have to do it some justice.
Image

Enjoy! Comments are welcome :]

Twas under the impression that bigger is better.
Its more of a HTPC type of a cooler though since its ridiculously quiet.
I didn't want to go with h2o since I knew I'd be moving it around a bit b/c dorms aren't really permanent.

I used to braid cables at work..
Looked nice and neat, but co-workers hated me for it when it came time to undo the braiding.

Maybe it would be a good idea to sell it and get a nice tower cooler. One of those Noctua NH-U12P's would be perfect for your needs

I'm actually planning on parting out my computer (CPU, cooler, MB, RAM) by the end of the year, or just selling the whole thing.
Intel has a program for retail workers that gives us a splendid deal on parts.
That's the only reason I have the extreme version of the qx6850 processor.
I'm expecting their next deal to involve a Core i7..

I... must... try... to not hate you right now xD
Only reason I'm looking to upgrade to a quad is a meager tax return, coupled with all my past semesters books and the unused xbox 360 i can sell off... and even considering all that, I'm going the Phenom II route versus i7

I had my case open today for a little cleaning to get ready for my other 4870 and I'm expecting 3 TB worth of HD's next week as well, so I figured I'd take a new pix of what the Monster-Rig looks like as of right now.
Not really much has changed from what's in my mod thread, But I'm posting it anyways......................
