This article over at BBC News touches on how Lithium ION batteries will never be able to keep laptops alive for 8 hour work days. The article is vague and forgets to mention the next revolution upcoming for the notebook market. High Def DVD's... You think video games kill battery life? Just wait!
Scientists are working on ways to ensure laptops can stay powered for an entire working day. Building batteries from new chemical mixes could boost power significantly, say industry experts. o it is, mostly though they are micro combustion engins. using nano technologoy they can make micro turbine engins like the ones on jets that spin ultra fast and ultra efficent driving small generators. Very cool stuff. so if your looking for places to invest, ... bio plastics and nano tech are good long term IMO.

Thats nothing. I've got two work laptops. One is a Toshiba Satellite, and the other is an IBM Thinkpad. The Thinkpad will last about a half an hour on a full charge. The Toshiba will shut down as soon as you unplug it (plus, about 5 keys have fallen off of it.)
