Anyone getting the new iteration of the iPhone? I am. I tried the Samsung Instinct and really didn't like it much. Since I have a Mac and a .Mac membership, I want to be able to sync my contacts, calendar etc easily with my MacBook Pro. I hope I don't have to wait in line Friday!

If I was a Mac person I'd probably get one but I like to tinker with my stuff way to much and with Macs you really can't do that. The iPhones look really sharp and man are they cool (especially now that they have 3G) but an
open source phone just came out and I think I'll be going for that, no matter how ugly it is

Hope the iPhone works well for you!

The
first reviews say that it sucks though
The 3G iPhone Stinks
The first reviews are out, and there are major problems with the device. If you already own an iPhone, you might want to save your money and get a free software upgrade instead.
Also did you see what Jon Peddie said in
his blog - Thought it was classic
My new phone cost more than my PC or TV
I’m getting ready to buy the iPhone. I mean buy it, not lease it from AT&T. I’ve been saving my allowance, and taking bottles and cans to the recyclers, and I’m getting close to the $700 needed (plus taxes) for the 16 GB 3G iPhone, I can hardly wait.
While I’m waiting I watch a little TV on my new 32-inch HD LCD TV that only cost $449 from Circuit City. And when I get bored with TV, I turn to my new $649 Dell Inspiron notebook with a 15- inch screen.
Soon I’ll have everything I need, and all of it for under $1,000 each, although I better hurry because I know the next generation iPhone will probably be $999 plus taxes.
How come, I wonder, everything else in the universe electronic goes down in price or stays at the same price with added functionality and the iPhone goes up? Isn’t that what Moore’s law is all about?
Does Apple and AT&T know they’ve broken the law? Will they get arrested and have to go to jail? OMG – if Apple has to go to jail, what’s going to happen to all the Apple stores - will they be bought by CompUSA or Circuit City?
And how come a puny 3.5 inch 480 x 320 pocket computer costs more than my 15.4 inch 1680 x 1050 notebook computer, or my 32-inch 1900 x 1080 TV? Why does a smaller screen, with a less powerful processor cost more? I used to think I understood electronics and economics, but now, well now, I don’t know if anybody does.
You gotta give Steve Jobs credit, he is a disruptive force, breaking the law and changing the rules.

I'll hold off. I like my current gen iPhone. One of the managers at my place of employment, said there shouldn't be a worry about not getting an iPhone. She used to be a manager of an AT&T wireless store. A lot of stores are supposed to be "overstocked." I guess we'll see how true that holds, eh? The price is attractive, but when you tack on the data plan, it's $10/mo. more than the current iPhone's package. In turn, you're spending more, over your two year contract, for the 2nd gen iPhone. AT&T is kinda gay too, they don't give employees discounts on the current gen iPhone phone plan, but they're going to give discounts on the new one...

I can't imagine being forced to get a data plan. I bought a smartphone and completely declined any data plans because I didn't want someone to mess with my phone and rack up charges. It has WiFi, so that is all I need.
I'm glad apple products are so stylish, otherwise they would still just be in the computer market, and you know they wouldn't last that way. If that happened the schools would suffer.

I've got a current gen iPhone that I can still exchange for a new one (and get $200 refund for price difference, too). Keeping my old one, though. I don't think 3G and GPS are worth the additional $15 per month ($10 for data, $5 for text) over the course of two years. Even with the refund, I'm still out $160.

Everyone is bitching because it doesn't have stereo bluetooth and a memory card so they are saying it sucks. I could care less about those things...you can get a 16GB phone, wtf do you need a mem card slot for?

Well, I went to an ATT store this morning at about 6:50am (store opened @

and there were 12 people already in line. I figured, great, I'll get one easily. Nope. Apparently the store got in ~6 16GB iPhones and 8 8GB versions. WTF. So they took my name etc and expect to have more in Monday or Tuesday which sucks for me because I already cancelled my other cell service and I've been cellphone-less for about a week already

FZ1- dont feel to bad apparently AT&T/iTunes wasnt ready for all the new activations.
http://www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=1& ... 8&id=43044
I had a Tilt over the iPhone both were just to "fancy" for me - all i really need a phone for is to text/talk .. so i downgraded to a Pantech Duo.

Yeah, I feel better now that I know most of the people who got the phones weren't able to activate them but I bet they'll be good to go by EOD tomorrow. I'm stuck prolly until Monday at the earliest.

I want one, but I refuse to pay $700 for it. I'd pay $300 with no contract, but the only way you would get me to sign a two year contract would be by throwing in a threesome with Megan Fox and Adriana Lima.
Can I get an A-M-E-N?
I'm thinking of getting a used 32GB iTouch and keeping my Blackberry.

10$ is awesome, you should take a look at what Rogers offers up here... the people that came up with those rates just thought : Ok, let's charge more than everyone and charge some more, just because we can!

Hello, I got a question about this iPhone 3G: does this allow to install Skype and call to a computer with Skype initiating a video conference call , meaning the user at the computer may be seen throughout the iPhone's screen. The computer user must also be able to see the iPhone user, and of course, both must be able to hear each other.
If this is not possible with this phone, can anyone point me out to one mobile device that does so?
