I hate Norton 360 with a passion, screwed up my parents machine 7 ways to sunday. I had them switch to AVG and they liked it. Dad didn't like idea of free version and paid for the full version of AVG. It's a large p.i.t.a. sometimes.

Me, I have the Norton Corp. on my work PC and AVG free on my home PC. The Norton Corp., sorry I forgot, now its called Endpoint Solutions, only affected my boot up time as it scans certain files on boot. I only really notice it on older machines. Once the machine is up and running its fine.

hehe Norton...I think the last time I wasted my money or someone else's money on it was about 4-5 years ago...and man..did it slow my rig..even my current one..i couldn't believe by how much it made it chug along..Norton's for people who don't know what they are doing online..or if u really got someone who hates you (no offense to those who use it)..I remember when it would flag something as a virus when it wasn't lol

People often miss this when complaining about Norton, Symantec Corporate is a very good anti-virus, there's are good reasons why so many businesses use it.

Unfortunately, Symantec Corporate isn't really accesible to purchase for individual consumers, you have to acquire it otherwise. (I get it for free through my school.)

Yup, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition is very good. We're still using 10.2 in the office, but we'll probably update soon. I use Avast free edition at home (liked it better than AVG), but if I had to pay for anti-virus software, I'd go with Symantec.

I had internet security protection 2007 bla bla bla symantec. I cant recall the name. It had about 4 services in windows only for updates, the new updater didn't disable the older one. 4 exes running for antivirus, open a zip or a rar was a torture. Also why the antivirus needs 3 or 4 icons in the task bar? I have an antivirus, I KNOW I PAID FOR IT, you dont need to remind me with 4 icons every time I want to know the time.

I discovered ESET solutions, and woot. You don't perceive you have an antivirus/email/firewall. Fast, clean (1 exe, 1 process, all there). fast explorations several updates a day and NEVER ask for reboot after the updates.
Dont tell about configuration.
If norton finds an virus (At least 2007 version) you need to look into 2000 menus to find which file was infected if you miss it during the exploration and all stuff is like that.
Try eset stuff.

Here! here! I agree with unfaithfulsfan on this.

What is even worse, is trying to UNINSTALL all of Norton. The Norton uninstall doesn't remove all of itself, nor a directory full of bloat under Program Files called Symantec.

I'll second the ESET recommendation, at least if you feel compelled to pay for antivirus - I also use Avast! and it works great.

My company just reimaged all of the machines and added Symantec Corporate. It screwed up my computer and now I am at another desk trying to get used to the keyboard nuances and the different mouse. I hate change.

I had to give up on Norton when it started causing more problems than it solved.

Norton actually created a program of their own that will remove ALL parts of Norton. I would say this is due to the tremendous outcry from users that would get a free trial with a new Dell (or other vendors) and then weren't able to remove it when the trial expired.

I last used Norton in 2001. I'm not sure which switch they threw to royally fork it up, but they did a good job of doing so.

I use norton internet security suite. It works for me, maybe it is a system hog, not sure. I know that a lot of people get upset that it is a 3 program pack and once you install it on one machine all 3 activates. I tried other programs, and I had bad luck with zone alarm. I used to think that zone alarm was great until they started to use KASPERSKY, that is when my system crashed. That's why I still use Norton.

Symantec Re-Writes Security Software for More Speed. Anyone brave enough to try that link at the bottom and download the betas? Report how slow your system becomes, please!
