Remove the battery and shoot some canned air on it. Dry off the battery . As soon as you do that you should be good to go. I still would wait at least 24 hours before you fire it up.

Make sure your computer is grounded to prevent any static. I would not be to worried if your computer is completely dry. Give it a few touches or pick it up to make sure.

I hope he gave it a final blow down with a few cans of air. Water gets behind ICs real easy and not dry, blowing canned air over every component especially in and around the expansion slots is a MUST. A heater helps in the absence of a dehumidifier. Running a dehumidifier in a closet with the computer in there with it well help dry it out faster.

Also if it doesn't work the first time simply let it dry longer. I have seen where it may take more than a week depending on the time of year and the relative humidity.

i just caught up on this thread and for the hair dryer comments... I used to use a hair dryer to heat up memory module heat spreaders, so I could remove them... Never had one fail on me ;)

I've done a ton of crazy things when it comes to PC's and yes hair dryers are on that long list.

You know it's freak out time when you find water in the Puter. Trust me I've seen auction computers that had water dripping out of them and as long as they dry out real well before shooting the juice to them their fine.

I had a buddy move a shop and the bay window leaked all over a stack of Old P3's he had that he sells for 99.95 complete, it rained one night and about half got really wet. We laid them out and put a barn heater some distance away and tested them a week later and not a one failed from it. (That being said I don't buy used PCs from him but it was interesting to dry out 35 or so PCs)

Let us know how it turns out I'm "Drying" to know.

i guess it really depends on what's in your rainwater. if you live in the middle of a big city i wouldnt be suprised if there as metallica residue in your rain that could cause shorts

Yeah, those guys do get pretty gross and sweaty playing on stage, I don't doubt that Metallica residue would ruin a computer.

Just joking, though we can see what is on martini's mind.

maj0r_pawnage , you are on your own. I put away my check book. I am still wondering what is taking so long? Maybe you went to a Metallica concert  Maybe you will be home early due to sprinkles and Metallica will tell all their fans that they are worried about a static charge and someone will get zapped.

maj0r_pawnage, How is it going? All kidding aside, we need a update. It's no fun to have a computer down. Good Luck!
