Been getting these often in the last 2 days after I put in the new motherboard..everything is tightened(not too tight) so nothing is loose..video card is fine, and ram seems fine as I installed windows with 2 gigs at first..i did get a blue screen with that amount in(and with the 4 gb total) so i don't think it could be ram..so I guess my next inquiry should be...is my cpu about to croak or is it possibly another issue?..The BSOD's were apparent in XP and it just happened in Vista 64.. I have enough power running to things plus the psu is brand new (not that brand new can't go wrong either)..heat might be an issue..it's hot in Vegas and trying to keep the room cool is rather difficult
Update..seems i can call upon a BSOd on command...kind of like the Force..so far every time i refreshed that windows performance index shindig(where it tells ya if ur system is a 5 or not in Vista)..and every time it gets to the part that it assess the CPU performance it either goes Blue on me or freezes completely...bout 4 minutes ago the Blue came back without doing anything..i figure since i've replaced every part except the hard drive and cpu in the 2 years ive had the computer...the CPU might have just had it almost

run memtest to make sure its not the memory

My gut feeling is that you need to add more volts to your northbridge chip to keep it happy with running at 4GB of RAM. So try memtest86+ first to see if the memory fails, and if it does, add more NB volts and try again.
If you want to try other things then here is what I would suggest:
Grab coretemp (or similar) and see what temperature the CPU is running at.
If you want to check your HDD for problems, either schedule a full checkdisk on the next bootup, or get the UBCD (ultimate boot CD) and run the correct HDD diagnostic for your HDD.
Once you have checked the other things (especially the memory like martini said) then you can run a CPU stressing program like ORTHOS (set it to small FFTs to stress the CPU only) to check if it is your CPU that is playing up.

Re: BSOD's up the ying-yang
Will try those. So far from what little time i had yesterday to run memtest(plus im at work now)...so far 2 sticks are ok, no errors...havent had time to run the other 2 sticks yet..ill try the other programs regardless of outcome as well...since the ram, cpu, and HD are all the original parts i bought when i first put this thing together (that havent been replaced yet anyway). never know considering I'm on my 3rd motherboard and 3rd psu...Thanks for the help so far guys...one more question...can not having enough voltage to the ram(when running 4 sticks that is) cause harm to the dimm slots on a motherboard? I ask that since that's what went wrong on my Asus board..One of those "things to know in the future" type inquiries lol

Like Dan Said, run HDD diagnostics. My experience has been excessive BSODs usually trace back to bad sectors or otherwise failing drive if RAM is OK
Good luck!

ive never heard of that happening (with the bad ram slots question)

Re: BSOD's up the ying-yang
Me either...until i tried every stick in every slot and would only boot in the 2 left slots( if you're looking at it with cpu slot facing you) and wouldnt boot in the other 2..tripped me out..I thought it was either due to having all slots used or using the 4-4-4-12 timings with all of them..I just know one day I installed the Zalman 9500 heatsink, and later that day I came home and it wouldnt boot..that cooler is another story for me(has a 3 pin connector but every mobo i have had has a 4 pin). I thought since my dog ravaged all of my blank dvd's near the rig( i had one of those desks that had a spot near the floor to put it on) and liek a static shock got to it..but i dismissed that idea later on

Re: BSOD's up the ying-yang
I'm glad you guys mentioned the ram....all sticks passed with flying colors on memtest....but something caught my eye...specially since Dan mentioned voltage...the voltage for the ram was WAAAAYYY low...I mean 1.8v is $h*t for ddr2-800...hell it needs 2.2v just to run at 4-4-4-12 lol...i left the timings at 5-5-5-16 tho..and bumped the voltage up a lil past 2.2(since this boards voltage is counted as +0.1 increments and not by the actual value)..and so far no BSODS...even Vista was able to give me the performance index number with no freeze...which went up dramatically...(me wonders if last cheap mobo pulled this on him too)..so far so good...not gonna gaurantee a final "Green light" so to say...but so far all is good.. Thanks again guys..when you are in Vegas, look me up ill buy some beers for ya for the help

Yes you are included too Dan ;)...Thanks to all that helped..really...I appreciate it...nobody likes spending $750 to find out nothing works still lol...this mother like to undervolt from what ive read..glad i read on it..now to keep an eye on it..
