Almost a Disaster!

Well I decided to redo my water loop in my rig tonight. Needed to make room for a second gfx card. As I was draining it I noticed little bit of coolant under the res. Thought I had dripped a little bit as i disconnected some of the hoses. Figured it was no big deal. I removed the Res (swiftech micro) and found something very troubling, it had cracked. I am considering myself very luck though because it did not get on any components
. Didn't think that I had tightened it that much but I must have. This time I am just going to use a fill tube here are some pics of the res.
- You can see the coolant in the crack. This was facing the motherboard.

- Tough to see in this pic but the crack also runs down to the bottom of the res.

I'm fust very happy that it didn't squirt onto the pcie slots.

Mine did the same, with that rez, that is what actually got me out of watercooling and desktops in general, and moved me to Laptops

I think a crack that size would scare me away from watercooling also! Actually, it keeps from even trying watercooling
Good thing you caught it before it broke through enough to send a tidal wave into your case!

I've been using the same raz from the day they were released without any issues..........................
The trick is not to over tighten any of the fasteners that secure the rez its self.................

Yeah i must have over tightened the screw on the top. That is where the crack starts. I redid the loop last night with the fill tube in place. Took a bit longer to bleed but it looks nice.

Fill tubes can be a pain to bleed at times, but after they are done, they work just as well and take up less space inside your case.

Yeah the tube has a much cleaner look inside the case. I dig that
